Why Funds are Needed
In Ireland we have the highest incidence of Cystic Fibrosis in the World per head of population, with the most severe mutations (strains) being common in our population. Instead of being a world leader in CF care we fall considerably below the European recommended standards.
People living with Cystic Fibrosis are very prone to recurring damaging lung infections that require frequent hospital visits for treatment on both an out-patient and in-patient basis. The potential of cross infection while attending hospital is of grave concern to people with Cystic Fibrosis.
In other countries CF in-patients are treated in single en-suite rooms, but this is not available for most CF patients in Ireland and we are now working to raise funds "Brick by Brick" to get these lifesaving facilities in hospitals throughout Ireland. Children born today with CF can expect to live a near normal, full and productive life, provided that the correct facilities and care are in place. We urgently need your help to ensure that the correct facilities are available throughout Ireland for our young people living with CF.
What Will the Money be Used For?
The funds from the "Buy a Brick" Campaign will be used to CF Facilities throughout the Country.
What can You do to help?
We need your help to build these lifesaving facilities "Brick by Brick": Can you organise a group of friends, work colleagues, your sports team or society colleagues to organise an activity that will raise funds for this worthy cause?
