The Paddy Kierans' Memorial Fundraising Walk in Aid of Cystic Fibrosis Research to Poland - September/October 2012
We are delighted to introduce you to our 2012 national fundraising walk to Poland in support of the Cystic Fibrosis Association. The walk which is an annual event will raise much needed funds towards research and support services for people with Cystic Fibrosis and their families.
We again endeavour to maintain the excellent work of Paddy a founder member of the walk committee. This year we do so by walking in the fascinating Poland!
Our fundraising walk 2012 takes us to southern Poland, a land of varied history and welcoming people. The two locations chosen for the trip are Krakow and Zakopane.
As Krakow is a city that has developed over many centuries, it provides a showcase setting for many various styles of architecture, with its historic center, which includes the Old Town, Kazimierz and the Wawel Castle included as the first of its kind on the list of UNESCO World Heritage Sites in 1978. Krakow is also well known for its parks and gardens and it will, without doubt, offer an amazing experience for all our walkers.
The second stop of our walk is the stunning Zakopane, which is located approximately two hours from Krakow and on foot of the Tatra Mountain & National Park. Its amazing views and surroundings will accompany the group in visiting waterfalls, taste tea in the local shelters and it will be soon clear why this is one of the most popular choices for mountaineering tourism.
In addition there will be plenty of local tours available for those who wish to visit other attractions and free time will be given to avail of these tours both in Krakow and Zakopane.
