TRYCIS Project: Transition from Child to Adult Care for young people with chronic illness: A study of policies, process, patients, parents and healthcare professional’s perspectives.

Have you heard of this study?

This study is looking at young people’s needs and current experiences of moving from child to adult healthcare services. We also want to hear from parents and healthcare professionals about the transition process. We hope that the results will help parents and health professionals to understand how young people feel about moving to adult healthcare services and to provide the support to make the move easier for all concerned.

How can you get involved in the study?

If you are between 14 and 25 years of age and attend the cystic fibrosis clinic at the National Children’s Hospital, Our Lady’s Children’s’ Hospital Crumlin or St Vincent’s Hospital, you will have received a pack which includes a questionnaire over the last few weeks. If you would like to participate in the study you can:

  1. Return your completed questionnaire in the prepaid envelope included in your pack.
  2. Or you can decide to take part in an interview
  3. Tell your parents’/guardian about the study.

For further information on this study or if you or your parent/guardian would like to participate in an interview please contact Dr. Orla Dempsey at the School Nursing and Midwifery, Trinity College Dublin on 01 896 4155 or at odempsey@tcd.ie

If you contact Orla she will be happy to answer any questions you may have.
