Easter Message From Chairman
As we all take a much needed rest at Easter, I just wanted to send everyone a quick
update on where we are at with everything.
Minister Harney's statement as you know was cautiously welcomed by us, but we now have a lot of work to do behind the scenes and will be looking for a meeting urgently with the HSE/DoH and St Vincent's to clarify the situation regarding:-
When the tender document is being published
When the work is due to start and complete
Confirmation of the 34 in-patient CF ensuite bedrooms as well as the separate Day Care Centre with 10 ensuite CF bedrooms
Feedback from Construction Companies on the feasibility of payment on completion
We will be requesting this meeting urgently so that we can keep the pressure on at every stage of the development and to ensure we are in the loop at all times by the relevant organisations. What we have learned over the past two weeks is that the various departments don?t wish to keep us in the loop, so we will have to keep on top of them to ensure that we are. They now know what we are capable of and I don't think they will want us mounting a national campaign on this again, so we are going to see if we can work with them proactively to ensure there are no more surprises or delays.
In addition to this when we return from Easter we will be working on a campaign around the whole Transplant Issue. RTE have already expressed an interest in covering the story in the run up to the conference
So I suppose my message to you is that the campaign over the last two weeks was just one little battle, a very important one to have won, but we need to keep the pressure on so that they realise they cannot ignore us any longer.
For this to be communicated effectively we need really strong support from the branches
Annual Conference 24th to 27th April Rochestown Park Hotel, Cork
We are delighted to report that there has been strong interest in the Conference from our members and I look forward to seeing as many as you as possible in Cork. At the Conference we will have a number of key announcements to make, which will be of interest to everyone.
On Sunday 27th April, directly after the AGM we will be running a PR Workshop for the branches. PR Information Packs will be distributed and an update on Awareness and Fundraising initiatives will be made. If you would like to attend this workshop I would be grateful if you could confirm your attendance with Helen at CF House.
If anyone can't attend but would like to receive the information pack and presentation, again, please let Helen know.
It is so important that we have representation from all branches at this briefing, so that all the branches are aware of the fundraising and awareness campaigns.
Again, thank you all so much for all your support over the past few weeks and have a very restful Easter.
Regards,
Sean
