Education and H1N1

CFAI has received numerous calls from concerned parents about whether they should send their children to school in September. Unfortunately CFAI is not in a position to give an authoritative answer on this issue, as variables such as the exact date for vaccine administration to PWCF have not been determined. Equally, the child?s personal state of health will also have an impact. At present, we are being guided by the general advice laid out by the HSE / HSPC in the below documents, which would encourage parents to send their children to school if they are in good health and do not show any symptoms of the virus. However, hand and respiratory hygiene is crucial in protecting against the spread of germs, and children should be made keenly aware of the ?good health habits? while interacting with others. CFAI is currently liaising with the relevant groups and we hope to have more specific ?CF and School? information available in the coming days.
