CFAI Welcomes Double Lung Transplant
The Cystic Fibrosis Association of Ireland warmly welcomes the second double lung transplant of a CF patient in Ireland. We understand that the patient is doing well and we have sent our best wishes to the family and also the surgical and clinical teams in the Mater Hospital and St Vincent?s University Hospital. The CFAI marks this occasion by calling on the Government to bring in a comprehensive donor and transplant policy in Ireland in line with international best practice. Such a policy would ensure that many more people would benefit from organ transplants than at present, including those with lung, heart, Kidney and liver conditions who desperately need a transplant.
