Orla Tinsley Joint Winner of Young Person of the Year Award 2008
At an awards cermony that was televised on RTE from City West on Saturday 13th September Orla Tinsley received the Young Person of the Year Award for 2008.The People of the Year Awards are not just the primary Awards event in Ireland, they are also the longest running. In a country that does not have a formal honours system, the Awards have become the predominant vehicle for public recognition of the greatest achievements of the year. Past winners read like a Who's Who of Ireland's greatest achievers and best known names - John Hume, Mary Robinson, Padraic Harrington, Bob Geldorf, to name but a few. CFAI are very proud that Orla Tinsley joined that list of Ireland's greatest achievers. Orla was thrilled to have her award presented to her by Andrea Corr who when Orla was 14 had answered a fan letter and generously sent Orla a tin whistle from her collection. In addition to this Orla received a video message of good wishes and congratulations from Colin Farrell.
The Young Person of the Year Award is presented to a young person who is aged 25 years or under for extraordinary achievements.
