Flu jab - where to get it cheap??

Postby KM » Mon Sep 19, 2011 9:56 pm

It's flu jab time again. We have the long term illness card but not the medical card and each year I resent paying the gp €55 to get the jab. I asked when I phoned for appointment whether the doctor still has to administer the jab and her answer was ' well in this clinic he does'. Therefore I will have to pay €55 for the jab visit next week.

Anyone Know can this be done elsewhere much cheaper ?

We are in south Dublin
Thanks

same situation for us although the local surgery lets the nurse administer the jab now once we had attended the GP for the first ever flu jab.€35 a pop.

Hey there! cant believe you guys have to pay so much. We pay 10 euro per vaccine for our 2 kids. the practice nurse administers it. We dont see the GP so why pay or be charged for a full clinic visit. You should challenge your Gp cause sounds like your being ripped off. Good luck!!!

I phoned the clinic and asked the price for flu jab and this year they are doing it for €25.

I was delighted, so it's all done now.

Thanks for advice.

we paid once for the jabs and i went mental at my doctor. never paid again. we were only paying for his appt not the drug. the drug is free to cf. but we have a medical card and a lti.dunno why.
The one thing we all have in common is we are all unique ;)

I think you can get the flu jab from pharmacists this year. It's free for at-risk groups. Will try this week and let you know how it goes:
