Bereavement Grant and Additional Supports
CF Ireland Family Bereavement Grant
Following the bereavement of a family member from cystic fibrosis, Cystic Fibrosis Ireland provides a bereavement grant to the next-of-kin to assist towards expenses incurred. The value of this grant is €1,500.
Bereavement Counselling for Members
CF Ireland also offers bereavement counselling support to members. This is arranged with an independant counsellor at a location suitable for the individual. Please contact the CFAI National Office for more information on this service.
This booklet, produced by the Citizens Information Board in March 2011, provides information on dealing with the practical and material matters that arise following a death and it is intended as a guide for people who have been recently bereaved and for those supporting people who have been bereaved.
It contains general information on what to do immediately after a death and the taxation, legal and financial issues that may arise, including social welfare payments. It does not provide detailed information on all these matters but does provide information about where to go for further information and support.
Anam Cara is a national voluntary support organisation set up by parents who have themselves experienced the loss of a child. Their aim is to provide support and understanding through their online forum, parent-to-parent meetings, professional talks and family events all of which are provided free of charge to those who have experienced the death of a child, regardless of age or circumstances of death.
Anam Cara offers support to bereaved parents, siblings and extended family members. For more information, log on to www.anamcara.ie or call 01 4045 378.
