We are delighted to announce details for the Cystic Fibrosis International Walk 2018 and are urging people to dust off their walking shoes and register to take part for cystic fibrosis.
The ten day trip taking place from September 28th to October 7th will take in The Flavours of Romania. The walk caters for various levels of fitness, so that each walker can take part at a pace they are comfortable with.
2018 marks the 24th year of Cystic Fibrosis Ireland's International Walk and what promises to be an unforgettable experience. The 2018 walk, which starts in Transylvania and finishes in Bucharest, sees participants walking an average of 10km each day and taking in such sights as the incredible neo-renaissance Peles Castle, the stunning Southern Carpathian Mountains, and the historical UNESCO protected Village of Viscri. The walk is dedicated to the memory of Drogheda man, Paddy Kierans, a legendary champion for people with cystic fibrosis who passed away in 2006. Since it first got underway, people on the walk have set foot in numerous countries, including Vietnam, Portugal, Montenegro, Poland, Turkey, Italy, the USA, and most recently, Croatia.
Bernie Murphy, Chairperson of the Cystic Fibrosis Ireland walk committee, believes that the 2018 Croatia International Walk will be one of the best yet.
Dr. Eddie Murphy, well know TV psychologist from RTÉ's Operation Transformation has joined Cystic Fibrosis Ireland as ambassador for the walk in Romania.
“Walking creates a great opportunity for lifelong wellness and friendships. Most importantly, of course, they will be helping to raise much-needed funds for supports for people with cystic fibrosis and their families. We know how challenging life can be for people with cystic fibrosis. If you have ever heard the story of someone with cystic fibrosis and how difficult things can be, then this is your chance to do something really special to show your solidarity. The walk is suited to all levels of fitness, with participants walking an average of 10 kilometres each day on the ten day adventure. Come and join us, with Cystic Fibrosis Ireland, you will never walk alone!"
The fundraising target for the Walk is €2,950 and this will cover all costs including flights, accommodations and meals.
If you would like to raise funds to help PWCF, fancy a challenge, or want to make new friends as you discover the Flavours of Romania, then the Cystic Fibrosis International Walk is for you. The memories and experiences you come away with will be priceless, and not to mention the huge contribution the walk makes each year in terms of funds raised to help PWCF.
