Fundraising Bucket Collections

CF Ireland Fundraising/Collection Buckets

As you are aware, you are required by law to hold a permit when doing any cash collection in a public space for the benefit of CF Ireland, or any charity. Permits are required for (but not limited to) Church Gate Collections, On-street collections, any type of cash collection ("bucket collections") in a public space. For clarification on this please see the ICTR's Fact Sheet on Garda Permits for Collections.

Unfortunately, there are bogus collectors out there, falsely presenting themselves as representatives of legitimate charities, conducting cash collections without permits, and retaining the proceeds of those bogus collections. In the eyes of the public, this activity unfairly discredits the charities involved, and it only serves to undermine the genuine fundraising efforts of charities, in what is already an extremely tough environment.

As CF Ireland is a charity that relies completely on public donations and support, it is vitally important that our donors, and the wider public know we are trustworthy and transparent
Therefore, it is YOUR responsibility to get the Permit in a timely manner, and to have it, or a copy of it on your person when you are doing the collection, as you may be required to produce it to show you are genuine.

In addition, we ask that you send us a copy of your permit before we send you the supporting fundraising materials - specifically sealed buckets for such cash collections that require permits, the use of our logo, posters and support letters. You can scan and email a copy of your permit to This email address is being protected from spambots. Permits can only be issued by An Garda Siochana.

We are so immensely grateful to the support we receive from our fundraisers, and we know that you volunteer your time and efforts willingly to fundraise and increase awareness on behalf of those with CF and their families.

We look forward to working with you in 2014, and beyond, in our continuing efforts to raise much needed funds for dedicated CF services in Ireland.
