Respiratory Bugs Common in PWCF

People with cystic fibrosis are vulnerable to germs that can cause serious infections. These infections are often difficult to treat with antibiotics so it is important to keep these 'bugs' from spreading.

This information sheet outlines some of the most common respiratory bugs in people with cystic fibrosis, including:

  • Staphylococcus aureus
  • Pseudomonas aeruginosa
  • MRSA: Meticillin resistant Staphylococcus aureus
  • Candida
  • Burkholderia Cepacia
  • Aspergillus and ABPA
  • Haemophilus Influenzae
