Orla Tinsley explains why the forthcoming change in organ donor consent is important for those on the transplant list, along with the necessary resources to make it work

In this recent Irish Times podcast, Orla explains to journalist Bernice Harrison why she is in favour of the change to ‘soft-opt-out' organ donor consent and other key aspects of the forthcoming Human Tissue Bill.

Background

Orla Tinsley received a life saving double lung transplant in New York's Presbyterian Hospital in 2017. Her challenging transplant journey was featured in the very moving RTE Documentary ‘Warrior'. Orla is presently on dialysis and is in need of a kidney transplant. A writer and broadcaster, Orla has been involved in many CF related campaigns, most notably for the CF adult transplant unit in St Vincent’s hospital, part of the Nutley Wing that was completed in 2012. CFI strongly supports the proposed change in organ donor consent.
