Cystic Fibrosis Ireland carry out numerous awareness, advocacy and fundraising campaigns and throughout the year, CFI and our Ambassadors are featured on TV, Radio - national, regional and community, print media as well as featuring in digital campaigns and events.
We are in a changing era of CF and while many in our community are benefiting from the modulator therapies and living well with CF, there are still many challenges to address, overcome and advocate for. These include access to housing, social welfare supports, work and education, and managing medical conditions alongside CF such as CF related diabetes and CF liver disease.
CFI will continue to advocate to broaden access for those who have the potential to benefit from important CF drug therapies and we are supporting many research projects aimed at shaping CF care into the future. The Disability green paper and other policy issues such as IVF supports and improving organ donor consent also remain important issues.
In addition, as the cost of living crisis and the housing crisis intensifies, CFI has seen an increasing demand on services and supports, making awareness and fundraising more important as ever.
The CF Community has come so far, much as been done, but there is still more to do. CFI will work tirelessly to increase awareness of CF and showcase the impact of life with cystic fibrosis, but we cannot do that without Ambassadors.
As an organisation we are facing challenges in 2024 to maintain our services and supports. Just some of the current projects CFI are involved in include:
To support our work we require CF Ambassadors to share their stories, experiences and insights to help raise awareness and support fundraising campaigns and events. CFI will support Ambassadors with training and information and will work with people on an individual basis at whatever level they are comfortable with.
We are delighted to confirm that our first online Ambassador meeting will take place on the 27th November at 7pm. Those interested can register here to attend.
Opportunities for Ambassadors in 2024 are varied and can include:
