CFI Prebudget Submission 2026

This year, CFI has made a comprehensive Pre-Budget Submission to Government, highlighting key measures needed to improve the lives of people living with cystic fibrosis and their families.

A central focus of our submission is the financial impact of disability. People with CF and their families continue to face significant additional costs associated with managing a lifelong condition. CFI has called on Government to recognise and address these costs through targeted supports that help reduce the financial burden on those affected.

We have also urged Government to tackle the ongoing issue of mortgage protection insurance refusals experienced by many people with CF. Despite significant advances in treatment and life expectancy, individuals with CF continue to encounter barriers when seeking mortgage protection cover, limiting access to home ownership. CFI is calling for action to ensure fair and equitable access to financial services.

Finally, CFI's submission emphasises the need for sustained, multiannual public investment in health research. We are advocating for research to be recognised and funded as a core component of Ireland's health infrastructure, with research activity embedded within health services. Continued investment is essential to drive innovation, improve patient outcomes, and ensure that Ireland remains at the forefront of advances in cystic fibrosis care and treatment.

Through our Pre-Budget Submission, CFI is working to ensure that the voices and experiences of the CF community are reflected in national policy decisions and that meaningful progress is achieved in the years ahead.
