COVID 19 Vaccination Booster Dose latest update

CFI expects an official update from the HSE in the near future in relation to a vaccination booster dose for those who are considered vulnerable to COVID-19, including people with chronic/long term diseases such as CF.

In the meantime the HSE has identified the following groups of people for the vaccine booster dose:

People who are 60 years or older (final details yet to be confirmed)

Older people living in a nursing home or long term care facility

People who are immunocompromised, including those who are pre or post-transplant https://www2.hse.ie/screening-and-vaccinations/covid-19-vaccine/get-the-vaccine/weak-immune-system/

Recently, the Minister for Health announced the extension of the vaccine booster programme to healthcare workers on foot of a recommendation from the National Immunisation Advisory Committee (NIAC) on Monday 1st of November.

Other vaccine Information

Pregnancy and getting a COVID-19 vaccine: You can find more information here.

Walk-in COVID-19 vaccination clinics: You can also get your vaccine without an appointment at a walk-in clinic. Information on how to find walk-in clinics open this week is available below. Walk-in clinics are open for people aged 12 and older. Please note: there are no booster doses at walk-in clinics. Walk-in clinics are for first and second dose only.

Free flu vaccine for all at-risk groups: From Monday 1 November, the HSE is encouraging all at-risk groups to make an appointment with their GP or Pharmacist for their free flu vaccine. It’s flu season and while anyone can catch the flu, some people are more at risk of catching the flu, getting seriously ill or needing hospital treatment. People at risk include those with certain long term conditions, pregnant women, those aged 65 or over and all children aged 2 to 17. The campaign pack contains messages and graphics you can use to share information with your networks. Learn more: hse.ie/flu

CFI will continue to keep you updated on vaccination booster doses, including when most people with CF will join the booster list, which we anticipate will be soon.
