CFI are aware that many of our members are experiencing problems with Creon PERT supply shortages. Currently there is supply disruption to both the 10,000 IU and the 25,000 IU Creon products.
Viatris, the marketing authorisation holder in Ireland for Creon, have advised that they anticipate an intermittent out of stock of Creon® 10,000 in Ireland. Given the manufacturing complexity of Creon®, the local supply status varies by strengths, country and territory.
Please see the Supply Notification which has been posted to the medicines shortages section of the HPRA website: COE11349C_BE_GASTRO Events Assets_EPC_Creon 25K_HCP_A4_V0.1 (hpra.ie). Viatris will continue to update the HPRA frequently with up-to-date information on Creon® supply.
Updates on current medicine shortages notified to HPRA can be viewed here: https://www.hpra.ie/homepage/medicines/medicines-information/medicines-shortages/shortages-list
Please note, Creon® 25,000 capsules are in stock but may be under increased demand pressure with the current Creon® 10,000 capsules out of stock situation.
It is recommended that anyone affected by this supply shortage speak to their treating CF physician to discuss treatment options, according to their health needs and their relevant clinical history.
Cystic Fibrosis Ireland are in discussions with relevant parties and CF organisations globally regarding this intermittent global Creon supply disruption and we will continue to post updates of any significant developments.
