Cystic Fibrosis Ireland warmly welcomes the launch of the Model of Care for CF Lung Transplantation in Ireland

Philip Watt CEO of CFI stated:

'This is the first model of care for CF related lung transplantation in the world and CFI warmly welcomes its launch/publication in the Royal College of Physicians (RCPI) in Kildare St Ireland 

It provides a framework and pathway for CF related transplantation in Ireland. It further empasisies the need for close relationships between the adult CF centres of care in Ireland and the national lung transplant centre in the Mater Hospital and the linked need for adequate resources’  

There is around 120 people post transplant with CF in Ireland. The first CF double lung transplant in Ireland was undertaken in 2007’
