EMA approves first COVID vaccine for 5-11 year olds
The EU’s drug therapy regulator, the European Medicine's Agency has today (25 November 2021) announced the extension of the Pfizer-BioNTech’s COVID 19 vaccine (Comirnaty) for children between the ages of 5 and 11 years old.
This widely expected announcement means that EU Member states will be able to extend the vaccine programme to younger children, following review of the EMA decision and subsequent planning and prioritisation by national health authorities, including in Ireland. Previously the youngest age for COVID-19 vaccination was 12 years old.
Booster Jabs for this with underlying conditions
Details from the HSE on booster jabs for those with underlying conditions will shortly be posted on the following website https://www2.hse.ie/screening-and-vaccinations/covid-19-vaccine/get-the-vaccine/covid-19-vaccine-booster-dose/
CFI understands that some adults with CF have already received their third jab through a CF hospital centre. CFI will circulate further information as soon as it is provided by the HSE.
