Health Minister Jennifer Carroll MacNeill announces updated access criteria for state-funded assisted human reproduction treatment

Health Minister Jennifer Carroll MacNeill has announced updated access criteria for state-funded assisted human reproduction treatment. Couples with one existing child in their relationship, and who meet all other current access criteria, can now access publicly funded AHR treatment, including one full cycle of in-vitro fertilisation (IVF) or intra-cytoplasmic sperm injection (ICSI).

To avail of state-funded IUI, IVF or ICSI through the HSE, your GP or consultant must refer you to a regional fertility hub. To be referred, couples must either:

  • be having problems becoming pregnant or

  • a health problem that affects fertility.

For full information on the scheme, visit the HSE website. If you have any queries relating to fertility supports, please get in touch with our Member Services team on memberservices@cfireland.ie.
