Kildare St Protest for the 'Kaftrio 35' - Thanks for all the fantastic support!
Many thanks to all the fantastic support at the protest today outside the Oireachtas in support of the 'Kaftrio 35'. We had expected 100 and more than 600 turned up for the lunchtime event. There were speeches from Grainne Ui Luing (2 daughters aged 6-11 waiting for Kaftrio); CF and Transplant Campaigner Jillian McNulty, who has benefitted from Kaftrio and Philip Watt, CEO of CFI. Grace Shesgreen (Person with CF) sang 3 beautiful and very moving songs during the lunchtime protest. Information packs calling for support to help to resolve the dispute were given to all TD's and Senators. Many came out to say hello and to indicate their support.
The protest concluded with purple roses being attached to the railings of Leinster House as symbols of the children and symbols of hope for a rapid resolution. It was poignant to see the many in the CF community who turned up to support today's protest, including those who have lost children. Many thanks in particular to the parents and children at the centre of this dispute who took part and who encouraged such a good turn out and to all the staff and Board members of CFI.
We attach the information pack to politicians published today for general information. CFI would like to send thanks to the Gardai and the Office of the Ceann Comhairle for all their facilitation today. CFI once again urges the HSE and Vertex to reach a resolution without further delay and if necessary through independent arbitration.
Philip Watt
