60 Years of CFI

As 2023, the organisation’s 60th anniversary, draws to a close, everyone at CFI would like to thank all our members and the wider community for helping us reach this milestone year. We are grateful for all the support received to overcome challenges and advocate for the CF community in Ireland in that time.

In this short video, our CEO, Chairperson and ViceChair reflect on how far CFI has come in helping to create a brighter future for people with CF in Ireland.

Wishing you all the very best of Christmas holidays and a peaceful New Year.

2023 marks the 60th anniversary of Cystic Fibrosis Ireland (CFI) and a year where it is widely recognised there has probably been more progress in CF care in Ireland over the past decade than any other decade since our formation in 1963. This is not to gloss over the challenges that remain – CF is still a very challenging long-term disease. But it is also increasingly a more manageable disease with better therapies and improved CF centres - with more to do.

CFI launches mini-Documentary to celebrate 60 years of CFI

CFI mini documentary now available

In anticipation of 65 Roses Day www.65Roses.ie on Friday 14th April and as part of our 60th anniversary celebrations, CFI is today making available a mini documentary on CF and the contribution of CFI over the decades. Its not a history, but is provides insights from our Chairperson, Bernie Priestley, People with CF, clinicians and parents.

The documentary is only 11 minutes long but we hope you find it as moving as we did. If you wish, please feel free to pass this link on to friends/family after you have time to watch. Discretion for younger children is advised. We welcome your feedback info@cfireland.ie

Kind regards

Philip Watt

CEO CFI

60th Anniversary Annual Conference

As part of our 60th celebrations, we are delighted to return to hosting an in-person conference and gala dinner, taking place this year in Dunboyne Castle in Co. Meath. There is a great list of speakers for those with an interest in paediatric and/or adult CF care and all presentations will be live streamed for those who cannot attend in person. Attending the presentations on Saturday 1st April is free and if you would like to register your place, please click here. We would be delighted to see you whether in person or online.

We have also produced a special video featuring reflections focussed on the past decade which will be launched at the conference and to honour the first five decades, we will have the copies of the lovely ‘For the Roses’ book available.

We look forward to celebrating our 60th year with you and you can find details of the event and the speakers as they are made available on this page.
