iDonate Tap to Donate Setup (Apple Only)

(Please Note: This app works on iPhones 11+ and Android 11+. If you have an older phone, you can direct donors to donate via the Revolut QR code or Scan to Donate stickers on the buckets and display boxes)

1. Download the iDonate Tap app from Apple App Store: LINK 

Use the QR Code to find or search for the app ‘iDonate Tap’ on your Apple App store.

2. Log into the app with your Username and Password below. (Please ensure you give the app Location AccessWhile using the App) – (Your Lead will have the login)

3. A fundraising page for your store will open and click on this: 

4. Select an amount or add a custom amount and click the donate button to process a donation. Ask the donor to hold their phone or card to the back of your phone until transaction is complete.

5. You can issue a receipt to the donor via email once the transaction is complete by clicking on ‘Would you like a receipt?’

FAQs

1. How do I grant location permissions for the app?

When installing and setting up the app, ensure you grant location permissions on both Android and iOS devices. Select ‘Allow While Using App’ to enable full functionality.

​​​​​​2. How do I enable contactless payments on my iPhone?

Ensure your iPhone is set up to accept contactless payments by tapping ‘Enable Now’ when prompted.

​​​​​3. Will the app drain my phone’s battery?

The app won’t cause a significant drain on your phone’s battery. However, we recommend fully charging your phone before use and bringing a charger or power bank just in case.

 

4. Can I issue a refund?

You won’t be able to process a refund directly, but iDonate can handle it for you. Simply take note of the last four digits of the donor’s card and send the details to us.

For a smoother process, it’s helpful to also issue a receipt to the donor and keep a record of their email address.

 

5. Will this work on my tablet or iPad?

Currently, the app is not compatible with tablets or iPads.

 

6. How can i change the donation amount?
Simply select "Custom Amount" (as shown below) and enter the desired donation amount. 

7. I tried to make a donation, but I'm not sure if it went through. What should I do?

This issue may be related to an intermittent problem caused by iDonate's payment provider, Stripe. Heree's what to look out for:

  • If the donation fails, an error message will appear confirming the payment was unsuccessful.
  • If you're returned to the donation screen without seeing an error message, the donatin was most likely successful.

 

8. Is this a common issue?

According to iDonate, this is a rare and inconsistent issue. It doesn't happen regularly and is not expected to affect most users.

 

9. Is iDonate doing anything to fix this?

Yes. Both iDonate and Stripe are aware of the problem and are actively working to resolve it.

 

10. What should I do in the meantime?

Please continue using the regular donation process as normal.

If you're unsure whether a donation was successful, kindly note the donor's email address and the last 4 digits of their card. You can then email this information to us at fundraising@cfireland.ie and we'll follow up with iDonate to confirm the transaction and get back to the donor if needed.

Revolut

To donate via Revolut, simply ask the donor to scan the QR code (pictured below) on the fundraising bucket using their phone’s camera or the Scan QR Code option on Android devices.
