Awareness Campaigns

Awareness campaigns play a vital role in educating people, inspiring action, and driving positive change. By increasing understanding of important issues, they help communities make informed decisions, challenge misconceptions, and create a shared sense of responsibility. Effective awareness campaigns empower individuals and organisations to work together towards meaningful and lasting impact.

Below you can find information about our most recent awareness campaigns.

ReWriting Tomorrow

ReWriting Tomorrow is a powerful awareness campaign and exhibition by Cystic Fibrosis Ireland that invites adults with CF to write letters to their future selves and children with CF to submit drawings of their future dreams. The exhibition was part of the Dublin City Council festival 'A Thriving City For All' and will shortly be travelling the length of Ireland with the Malin2Mizen Cycle4CF before embarking on a national tour.

Through personal stories, reflections, and artwork, the campaign highlights the hopes, ambitions, and challenges of living with CF, while encouraging the public to consider the importance of ongoing research, treatment access, and support services that help make those future dreams possible.

Short videos and audios of the letters can be accessed here and if you would like to get involved, or make a submission, please email us.

The Cost of Breathing

The Cost of Breathing is a photography exhibition created by Cystic Fibrosis Ireland in collaboration with photographer Trevor O'Donoghue.

The campaign explores the often unseen financial, emotional, and social impacts of living with cystic fibrosis. Through powerful imagery and storytelling, it raises awareness of the additional costs associated with managing CF, including healthcare, travel, specialist nutrition, and the loss of opportunities caused by long-term illness.

The exhibition concludes a 6 month national tour in August 2026 but the virtual gallery is still available to view here.

65 Roses Day

65 Roses Day is the national fundraising and awareness day for Cystic Fibrosis Ireland. The name originated from how young children pronounce "cystic fibrosis" - "65 Roses". This phrase has since become a globally recognised symbol of the CF community.

The campaign brings people together through fundraising, volunteering, and awareness activities to support children and adults living with cystic fibrosis while helping to fund vital services, advocacy, and research.
