Exercise and Physical Activity

where is this

Exercise and physical fitness are of extreme importance for people with cystic fibrosis (PWCF). Not only is it a natural form of chest physiotherapy that increases lung capacity facilitating airway clearance, it is also instrumental for preserving mental well-being and quality of life.

One of the great things about exercise is that there are many activities that are free and accessible to all and often small changes to our lifestyle can greatly add to aerobic improvements.

We are very aware of the financial challenges that CF often present and as such also have various financial supports available to our members which can help offset the cost of exercise.

Wellbeing Supports

where is this

Looking after your mental health and wellbeing is very important, especially when facing everyday challenges. Mental health affects how we think, feel, and act. It also affects how we cope, build relationships, and make decisions. It is important at every stage of life, from childhood through to adulthood.

CFI offers financial support for members who would like to access counselling services. You can choose a local counsellor yourself, or we can help you find one that suits your needs.

We support both individuals and families. This includes services like play therapy and art therapy for younger children, as well as support for siblings who may not have CF but could benefit from speaking with a professional.
